Scout Leaders Visit Forest Genetic Monitoring Plot in Dvor, Slovenia

Thursday, 11.8.2016

A group of 30 scout leaders joined the LIFEGENMON project team for an excursion to the beech forests near Dvor, Slovenia. There, they visited a beech forest genetic monitoring plot and learned about the surrounding forests. To make the learning as efficient and memorable as possible, the visit was prepared by the principles of Flow learning. Forest pedagogic activities, described within soon-to-be-released Handbook for Learning and Play in the Forest, were practically presented to scout leaders, who are now equipped with new tools of teaching children about forests and forest ecosystems.

LIFEGENMON Plot Visit With Scout Leaders in Slovenia

A relaxed and interesting journey into the forest, a pleasant new experience.

A portal establishing workshop was conducted in order to make sure that the LIFEGENMON portal will be tailored as well as possible to the needs of project target audiences. The reactions to the excursion were mostly positive, the only downside being there was not enough time for more practical activities. One of the scouts described the excursion as: “A relaxed and interesting journey into the forest, a pleasant new experience.”
