Step by step autumn is coming to Bavaria (Germany) and also into our FGM plot for silver fir (Abies alba).
On 12th of October our plot was visited by our
colleagues from Mexico. The LIFEGENMON project was presented to state Foresters from state and private enterprises. Dr. Monika Konnert, the head of ASP, briefly described all the work that that has been done during the first year of the forest genetic monitoring. Later the guests were informed about the rest of project activities until 2020. Also the guests from Mexico were interested in sustainable forestry and we had lively discussion on the subject. After the field trip we visited with our colleagues the Bavarian Office for Forest Seeding and Planting (ASP) in Teisendorf and there we informed them about the ASP responsibilities and tasks related to the forest reproductive material in Bavaria.
One week after the same FGM plot in Schrög forest (close to Anger) was visited by the Bavarian Forestry Minister Mr. Helmut Brunner from the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture, and Forestry. Dr. Monika Konnert, briefly introduced to the Minister the goals of the LIFEGENMON project. Afterwards the Minister gave an interview for the local media about the forests in Bavaria and the forests genetic resources.
